My perfume doesn't smell the same as I remember, is it fake?

If you purchased your perfume from Maison Ephyr, you can be assured it is 100% authentic. We only sell original fragrances sourced directly from authorized brands and distributors.

If a scent smells different from what you remember, there are a few possible reasons. Perfumes are sometimes reformulated to comply with updated IFRA regulations or to improve performance and longevity, which can slightly alter how a fragrance smells.

Fragrance perception is also highly personal and can change depending on mood, weather, season, or even different stages of life. In addition, perfumes especially niche fragrances develop uniquely on each person’s skin, so a scent may smell different on you than it did when you first experienced it or when worn by someone else.

Does perfume expire?

Yes, perfumes do expire over time. As a fragrance ages, its scent can gradually fade or change, especially if it is exposed to heat, light, or air. Improper storage can accelerate this process and affect the quality of the perfume.

To preserve your fragrance, store it in a cool (around 20°C), dark place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Proper storage helps maintain the scent’s original character for as long as possible.

Does niche perfume are long lasting?

Not necessarily. While niche perfumes are often made with high-quality ingredients, this doesn’t automatically mean they last longer on the skin. Longevity depends on the specific ingredients used, the balance of the composition, and how the fragrance interacts with your skin.

Some niche perfumes may last longer than mass-market fragrances, but this isn’t always the case. Scent performance varies from person to person, influenced by skin type, body chemistry, and even climate.

If a fragrance doesn’t last as long as you’d hoped, we recommend exploring a different scent that better suits your skin. There are many options available, and we’re always happy to help you find one with the longevity you’re looking for.

Returns and Refunds

Return policy

Our return policy is valid for 30 days from the date you receive your item. Requests for returns must be made within this period.

Refund policy

I. Eligibility for Returns

To qualify for a return, items must meet all of the following conditions:

  • Unopened, unused, and unsprayed
  • In original condition and original packaging
  • Accompanied by a valid receipt or proof of purchase

Any applicable fees may be deducted from your refund.

Important:

  • Returns that do not comply with this policy, including unsolicited returns, will not be accepted.
  • All returns are subject to verification and may be reviewed, including video documentation where applicable.
  • If a returned item is found to be opened, used, altered, or different from what was originally shipped, no refund will be issued.

II. Non-Returnable Items

The following items are final sale and non-returnable:

  • Fragrance samples and decants
  • 5ml and 10ml perfumes
  • Discovery sets
  • Sale items
  • Gift cards
  • Products that have caused allergic reactions

Due to hygiene and safety standards, we cannot accept returns on skincare, makeup, or hair care items that have been opened, unsealed, or used.

III. Personal Dissatisfaction & Allergies

Returns based on personal dissatisfaction such as scent preference, headaches, or allergic reactions cannot be accepted. Fragrance performance and perception vary by individual.

We strongly encourage customers to review ingredient lists before purchasing. If you have sensitive skin or known allergies, we recommend purchasing a sample before committing to a full-size product.

By placing an order, you acknowledge and accept all risks associated with potential allergic reactions or sensitivities.

IV. Damages & Order Issues

Please inspect your order immediately upon delivery. If your item is damaged, defective, or incorrect, contact us within 3 days of delivery including clear photographic evidence.

  • Claims submitted without sufficient proof or outside the reporting window may be refused.
  • The acceptance window for quality-related complaints is 5 days from delivery. Late submissions will not be considered.

V. Third-Party Shipping Services

If you choose to use a third-party freight forwarder, our responsibility ends once the package is handed over to your selected courier.

We are not liable for loss, damage, leakage, or product infringement occurring during third-party transit.

VI. Exchanges

To exchange an item, you must first return the original product in accordance with our return policy. A new order must then be placed separately for the replacement item.

VII. Refunds

Once your return is received and inspected, we will notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund.

Approved refunds will be issued to the original payment method. Processing times may vary depending on your bank or credit card provider.

VIII. Incorrect Orders

If an incorrect item was ordered and the order has already shipped, standard return policies apply. Please review your order carefully before completing your purchase.

IX. Shipping Address Accuracy

Customers are responsible for providing accurate shipping details at checkout.

If a package is returned due to an incorrect address, missing apartment number, or incorrect postal code, reshipment costs will be the responsibility of the customer.

X. Allergic Reactions

If you experience an allergic reaction, notify us within 48 hours. We may request medical documentation or photographic evidence.

Please note that we maintain a strict no-return policy for products that cause allergic reactions. For customers with fragrance sensitivities, purchasing a sample prior to buying a full-size product is strongly advised.

I ordered the wrong perfume, what should I do?

If you’ve just placed your order and it hasn’t shipped yet, please contact us immediately. We’ll be happy to cancel the order and issue a refund so you can place a new one.

If your order has already shipped or been delivered and there was an error or if you’re not satisfied with your perfume please reach out to us by email info@ephyr.ca . We’ll review the situation and do our best to find the best possible solution.

Can I exchange my perfume order into another product?

Absolutely! Sealed and unused perfumes may be exchanged within 30 days of purchase, in accordance with our Return Policy.
