When developing Penguin, Zoologist drew inspiration from the extreme Antarctic environment and the endurance of emperor penguins protecting their eggs through violent winds and freezing isolation. The fragrance captures this unforgiving landscape through a composition that moves from glacial freshness into spice, resin and soft leather. Crisp Antarctic air and an ice accord evoke the first shock of polar cold, while saffron, pink pepper and sea moss introduce warmth and movement beneath the frozen surface. The result is an invigorating fragrance that reflects both the severity of nature and the quiet determination required to survive it.

 

Olfactory Notes

Upon the first spray, Antarctic Air and Ice Accord create a distinctly cold, ozonic sensation, sharpened by the aromatic, pine-like freshness of Juniper Berry. The opening feels clean, expansive and windswept, recreating the impression of breathing in freezing polar air.

As the fragrance develops, Pink Pepper adds a lively spicy brightness, while Saffron brings a dry, subtly leathery warmth. Ciste Absolute, also known as labdanum, deepens the heart with an ambery, resinous character that gradually softens the fragrance’s icy opening.

Finally, Penguin settles into a smooth, textured base of Sandalwood, Musks, Seamoss and Suede. The sandalwood provides creamy warmth, while suede and musk create a soft, skin-like finish. Seamoss maintains a salty, mineral freshness, allowing the fragrance to remain atmospheric and cool even during its warmer drydown.
