Snowy Owl Zoologist: icy floral musk

When developing Snowy Owl, the frozen stillness of an Arctic landscape serves as the central inspiration. Zoologist presents the fragrance as a contrast between cold vitality and unexpected softness, capturing snow covered terrain, crisp air and the quiet presence of the snowy owl. Rather than creating a conventionally fresh fragrance, perfumer Dawn Spencer Hurwitz combines an icy snow accord with flowers, greenery, musk and gentle sweetness, giving the composition both a frozen exterior and a warmer, textured depth.

 

Olfactory Notes

Upon the first spray, Snowy Owl opens with a cooling Snow Accord accompanied by fresh Mint and delicate Lily of the Valley. Coconut introduces an unexpected creamy softness beneath the icy effect, creating the impression of snow that feels airy yet almost tactile.

As the fragrance develops, Iris and Snowdrop reinforce its pale floral character, joined by White Rose. Mate and Galbanum bring a distinctly green, slightly bitter quality, while Frankincense adds a dry aromatic depth that keeps the composition from becoming simply clean or floral.

Finally, Snowy Owl settles into a more earthy and musky base. Ambrette, synthetic Musks and synthetic Civet create the soft, featherlike effect, while Cedar and Oakmoss add woody and forest like depth. Tonka and Vanilla introduce restrained warmth and sweetness, creating a striking contrast with the frozen character of the opening. Zoologist confirms that the civet and musk effects are synthetic and that Snowy Owl contains no animal products.
