Vanilla Powder Matiere Premiere: Creamy woody vanilla fragrance

When developing Vanilla Powder, Matiere Premiere built the fragrance around Vanilla Absolute from Madagascar, sourced through the Fair for Life agricultural program. The idea is a contrast between dark vanilla and modern white perfumer powders, creating the impression of a vanilla bean “painted white.” The fragrance is designed as a sophisticated, luminous vanilla cloud rather than a heavy dessert-like gourmand.

 

Olfactory Notes

Upon the first spray, Coconut Powder gives the fragrance a soft, airy, powdery texture that brightens the vanilla. As it develops, Vanilla Absolute Madagascar becomes the central focus, bringing a dark, rich, and addictive warmth. Palo Santo Oil from Ecuador adds structure and woody verticality, while White Musks wrap the vanilla and powders in a clean, contemporary, luminous trail.

How is the Extrait different from the Eau de Parfum?
Same composition, higher concentration. The Extrait carries a denser oil load, which deepens the Madagascar vanilla absolute, makes the powdery texture feel richer, and extends wear. Expect it to sit closer to the skin with more weight and less initial lift than the EDP.

What does Vanilla Powder Extrait smell like?
Coconut powder opens soft and airy, brightening the vanilla before it takes centre stage — dark, rich and addictive rather than sugary. Palo santo from Ecuador adds dry woody structure, and white musks close it in a clean, luminous haze.

Is it a dessert or gourmand vanilla?
No. It's built as a luminous vanilla cloud rather than an edible one. The white powders and dry palo santo keep it refined where most vanillas turn sweet.

How long does it last?
Extrait concentrations typically outperform their EDP counterparts, and this one is designed for depth and persistence. Individual results vary with skin type, so a sample or decant is worth trying first if longevity is your main concern.
